ABOUT REMY CHWAE

Remy studied illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA from 2007–2009 and then obtained a certificate in the 2-year traditional sign painting program at L.A. Trade Tech. College in 2014. In 2018, she earned a postgraduate certificate in Typeface Design at The Cooper Union’s Type@Cooper Condensed Program in New York. She then ran her own sign painting business from 2012 to 2022.

In 2023, she earned a BA in political science from Columbia University to pursue a career in public interest law, but realized that she can’t leave behind a creative career. She now lives in New York working as a book designer at the Artisan and Workman imprints of Hachette Book Group, while also freelancing as a lettering artist and graphic designer.

Clients include: Starbucks, WeWork, Adobe, Nike, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Lucky Brand, Columbia University, Esquire, The Wing, Jameson Whiskey, Bulleit Bourbon, Dodge, Toyota, The Broad Museum
